Saudi Airports Meteorological Systems Upgrade
Design and installation of WMO-compliant Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) and wind-shear alert systems across five international airports in Saudi Arabia.

PROJECT OVERVIEW
Nudhum holds a nationally exclusive licence to supply, install, and maintain Automated Weather Observation Systems certified to World Meteorological Organisation standards for Saudi civil aviation use. This project upgraded the meteorological observation capabilities at Medina Prince Mohammad Bin Abdulaziz International, Taif, Najran, Al-Jouf, and Jizan airports.
Each site received a full suite of sensors including precision barometers, present-weather detectors, runway visual range transmissometers, ceilometers, wind speed/direction masts, and low-level wind-shear alert system (LLWAS) anemometer networks. Data feeds integrate directly into the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) meteorological data network.
All five sites were commissioned within 18 months, within specification and budget, and are now providing real-time data to GACA's flight operations control centres.
