PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Al-Fadhili Solar Power Plant represents a landmark achievement in Saudi Arabia's ambitious Vision 2030 renewable energy programme. Developed by EPC — Taj Holding's energy arm — the facility deploys 900,000 bifacial solar panels across a 720-hectare site, achieving a record-low levelised cost of energy that reshaped regional power procurement benchmarks.
The project integrates a utility-grade SCADA control system, real-time irradiance monitoring, and a 50 MWh battery energy storage array to smooth output during peak cloud-cover events. Grid connection is achieved through a dedicated 380 kV substation that feeds directly into the Saudi Electricity Company's national transmission network.
Construction was completed ahead of schedule and under budget, demonstrating the EPC team's capacity to execute complex renewable infrastructure at scale. The plant is expected to power approximately 40,000 Saudi homes annually and avoid 480,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over its 25-year operational life.
